Unless really necessary, I try not to take public transportation or taxis to move around a city. I much rather walk to my destinations throughout the day. Walking is not only a great way to explore a city (and do some exercise while you're at it) but also it opens the door to random encounters with other people, unplanned activities, or delicious food along the way.

This is a strong statement, but I have to say Lake Bled is one of the most beautiful places I've visited in my life. The turquoise waters, the small church in the middle of the lake, the surrounding green mountains. Everything adds up to a heaven-like landscape. I only did a day-trip here, but I could've stayed another day, or a month! Don't skip Vintgar Gorge, just 5km north of Bled, for more beautiful landscapes. Picking the daily picture was never as hard as it was today.

Honest question: how much do you know about Slovenia? Personally, I knew nothing, not even it's capital: Ljubljana. I arrived to this city having no idea what to expect, and I was happily surprised. Ljubljana got it right, in multiple ways. They closed the city center to traffic in 2008, and in 2016 they received the title of Green Capital of Europe, having the most green space per capita 🌳. All this to say: add Slovenia to your future travel plans.

Cesky Krumlov is a popular day-trip destination from Prague. Buses loaded with tourists arrive at midmorning and leave around 6pm. The town has a different vibe in the early morning and later at night, once the bulk of tourists has left. That's why I'd strongly recommend spending at least one night here instead of doing a day-trip.

Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful medieval town, which has remained almost untouched for hundreds of years. Walking along the narrow cobblestone streets and through the old town square transports you to the 13th century. The castle is one of the few in Europe that is free and open 24h. Locals are also very proud of their local beer, so I had to visit the brewery to try it.

Prague is well known for its bars and nightlife. However the past 2 days (unfortunately for me a Friday and a Saturday) I was already in bed before 11pm because of my +5h jet lag from Vietnam. Finally today I overcame it, and was able to stay awake past midnight, having beers at a bar highly recommended by locals.

After 4 months traveling in Southeast Asia, everything feels so different, and so expensive! The price for dinner is almost a full day's budget in Vietnam. Prague is a gorgeous city though. There is beautiful architecture and history at every corner. The free walking tours are a great way to get to know a city. A tip is always welcomed based on how good of a job you think the guide did.
